Abstract Background β-Alanine BA is a non-essential amino acid that has been shown to enhance exercise performance.

Methods Thirty healthy, strength-trained individuals were randomly assigned to the experimental groups placebo PLA or BA. Background β-Alanine BA is a non-essential amino acid synthesized in the liver [ 1 ]. Methods Experimental design Participants undertook a 5-week resistance training program during which half the subjects took BA supplements according to whether they were assigned to a placebo group PLA or BA group.
