Here we report upon 4-carboxamido-1H-benzimidazoles substituted in the 2-position with nitroxides or their amine or hydroxylamine precursors. We concluded that in most cases sterically hindered amines are better PARP inhibitors than their oxidized form and structural changes in the 2-substituted 4-carboxamido-1H-benzimidazoles such as N-substitution or changing the position of the carboxamide group were detrimental to PARP inhibition activity but not to antioxidant activity.

These results indicate the advantages of combining an antioxidant nitroxide or nitroxide precursor with a PARP inhibitor molecule to decrease or eliminate the deleterious processes initiated by reactive oxygen and reactive nitrogen species ROS and RNS. The radical scavenging capability of 4h was demonstrated by EPR study of urine collected after drug administration.

Antioxidant activity of Maillard reaction products from system of ribose and hydrolyastes from scallop Patinopecten yessoensis gonad HAN Jia-runLI Xue-weiZHAO Chen-chenYU Cui-pingTANG YueSUN NaWU Hai-tao. 摘要: 本文选用碱性蛋白酶、中性蛋白酶、风味蛋白酶及木瓜蛋白酶制备虾夷扇贝雌性生殖腺酶解物,再与核糖进行美拉德反应获得虾夷扇贝雌性生殖腺酶解物-核糖美拉德反应产物。采用DPPH自由基和亚油酸过氧化体系,评价美拉德产物的抗氧化能力。结果显示,碱性蛋白酶酶解效果较好,在酶解3 h时其水解度及TCA可溶性寡肽得率最高,分别达 Abstract: In this paper,the hydrolysates from scallop Patinopecten yessoensis female gonad were prepared by using alcalase,neutrase,flavourzyme and papain.

Maillard reaction products were further obtained from the system of ribose and hydrolysates from scallop Patinopecten yessoensis female gonad. The antioxidant capacities of maillard reaction products were evaluated by DPPH radical scavenging assay and linoleic acid peroxidation assay.

The results showed that alcalase had the better hydrolysis effect than the other enzymes. The hydrolysis degree and TCA soluble peptide yield reached The Maillard reaction products of scallop female gonad hydrolysates-ribose showed the stronger antioxidant abilities at pH7 of by using DPPH radical-scavenging activity and anti-linoleic acid peroxidation capacity as the indicators.

The results suggest that the Maillard reaction products of scallop female gonad hydrolysates-ribose possess antioxidant capacity,having potential value for exploitation.

Abstract Objective Previous investigations suggest that appropriate nutritional interventions may reduce delayed onset muscle soreness DOMS. Methods For the purpose of inducing DOMS, 21 untrained male college students performed a lower-limb plyometric exercise session that involved 7 sets of 20 consecutive frog hops with s of rest between each set.

Conclusion D-ribose supplementation reduces muscle soreness, improves recovery of muscle damage, and inhibits the formation of lipid peroxides. Introduction Delayed onset muscle soreness DOMS is described as ultrastructural muscle damage that occurs following exercise, and is characterized by localized muscular tenderness and soreness [ 1 ].

Methods Subjects Twenty-one untrained healthy male college students volunteered as subjects for this study. Study design Participating subjects were asked to complete the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire and were measured for height and weight.

Experimental design. Full size image. Results All subjects completed the two plyometric exercise sessions and tests.

Discussion The purpose of this study was to explore whether timed D-ribose supplementation could reduce DOMS-associated factors and help to speed DOMS recovery.

Limitation It is a limitation that the study was not a double-blind cross-over study. Conclusion D-ribose supplementation may safely help to alleviate DOMS induced by plyometric exercise in the general population.
