Start an employee engagement program. Make community participation part of your employee engagement program. Encourage employees to take a certain number of workdays each year to get involved or close the business for a half or full day once a quarter, and all go work on something together.

This not only benefits those who participate and those who receive the volunteer help, but also sends a message that you value employee involvement and recognize their efforts outside of work hours. Also, if a group of your employees show up together, maybe all wearing the same company t-shirt or hat, it significantly boosts brand awareness in the community, and camaraderie among your employees.

Host local competitions. Hosting local competitions such as art shows or writing contests is a fun way to engage people from all walks of life while still promoting your business values and mission.

Partner with other organizations. Partnering with other organizations can be mutually beneficial for both parties because it allows you to collaborate on projects that may not have been possible before, due to budget constraints or lack of resources.
