Relaxium is Okay, but I Prefer Alpha Grind PM. As a regular guy on the hunt for a good night's sleep, I recently turned to Amazon and picked up Relaxium Sleep Aid.

With ingredients like magnesium, melatonin, and ashwagandha, it seemed like a solid bet. After using it for a while, I've found it does a decent job. It's pretty effective at helping me drift off faster, and the quality of sleep I'm getting feels better.

Plus, it's non-habit forming, which is a big deal for me because I don't want to rely on a sleep aid all the time.

However, as someone who's also tried Alpha Grind PM, I feel like Relaxium, while good, doesn't quite hit the mark for me. Alpha Grind PM just seems to offer a bit more, particularly in terms of aligning with my fitness goals. It's not just about getting better sleep; it's about feeling more energized and ready to tackle my workouts.

It's got GABA and chamomile, which are great for winding down at night. But if you're someone who's looking for a bit more, like a boost in fitness or energy levels, you might find it lacking.

It's definitely calming and will help you get a good night's rest, but for me, the additional benefits of Alpha Grind PM make it the better choice. In summary, if you're in search of a straightforward sleep aid, Relaxium is a good pick.

It's effective, easy to take, and you don't have to worry about forming a habit. But, if your needs go beyond just sleep and into the realm of overall fitness and well-being, Alpha Grind PM is the way to go - especially for men.

Read them. But I fell for the hype generated by the description and ordered the product. Reality proved my decision wrong. First night, I took 2 capsules at 10 PM. About 40 minutes later, I got into bed and immediately fell asleep.

Got up twice to pee, got back into bed, and fell asleep immediately. And I slept and slept and slept for 11 hours until 10 AM.

I was groggy for 5 hours until 3 PM. Evening 2, I took only one capsule at 10 PM. Got into bed at and fell asleep. Woke up at a. I again was groggy and tired until pm. Got into bed at 10 pm and fell asleep immediately. Set my alarm for 8 am. Had an appointment, and again I woke up groggy and tired, I had to lie down at 2 pm.

Slept for 3 hours. My takeaway: Relaxeum had me fall asleep right away and I slept hours BUT I did not awaken refreshed, or with improved concentration. I was groggy. The info on the bottle actually bears out what I experienced.

You have to stick with it and do not expect it to work miracles the first night. I have trouble falling back asleep once I awake.

This will aid in falling alseep, but if your like me when you use the bathroom you can still wind up staying awake. You will feel groggy but the mind has a will of its own for people who have trouble sleeping. This product does help me fall asleep quickly by allowing my mind to relax, however, I still wake up several times during the night.

Some nights it works well, and I fall back to sleep, but is does not work it's magic every night. Overall, it is better than any of the other over counter sleep aids that I have tried, however, it is not a miracle worker.

I also have noticed that I wake up with a bit of a headache. The minor headache does go away after a short while, but it is a small con of using this for me.

Update: After continuing to take Relaxium Sleep consistently for a month, I have noticed that it is working better for me. I take 2 capsules - 1 hour before bed, and when I put my head on the pillow, I am out. That has not happened in years. I usually wake up about 3 hours after going to bed, but that is probably because I need to use the restroom.

After I return to bed, I fall right back to sleep, however, I do wake up periodically from that point on. The best news is that I fall back to sleep. So no, I don't sleep 8 hours straight, however, I am getting so much more sleep than I did before. The headaches have also gone away, so I believe my body is getting used to the herbs.

I now can honestly say that I will buy another bottle. One necessary habit for good sleep relies on a regular sleep cycle, by going to bed and arising at relatively the time every day.

Then I found that I was falling to sleep rather well using an app called Insight Timer , I stopped with the supplements as well. Problem is that I woke up too early and could not fall back to sleep again. I have a Fitbit watch that records my sleep activity which is then downloaded to the Fitbit app in the morning.

It provides clear data for sleep time minus the awake time , deep and REM sleep and restoration. I have found that stress worrying about things plays a big part with messing with my sleep.

I went to bed at PM and woke up at 7 AM with a fabulous sleep score. Knock on wood! I've realized that taking some of my supplements at night tend to mess with SLEEP. The suggested usage is for two capsules, I take one for now. This is what works for me, YMMV. See more reviews.

Of the many valerian species, only the carefully processed roots of the Valeriana officinalis have been widely studied. However, not all studies have shown valerian to be effective, and there may be some dangers. Ultimately, persistent insomnia indicates a problem, such as poor sleep habits or a medical or psychological condition.

If you continue to have insomnia, talk to your doctor about possible causes and treatment strategies. Or consider getting an evaluation at a sleep medicine center that's accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

That said, one small study of postpartum women breastfeeding is not specified suggested chamomile tea may be helpful in improving quality of sleep, and herbal tea is considered safe for pregnant and breastfeeding people.

People taking certain medications or supplements: Sleep supplements may interact with some medications and other supplements. People with certain medical conditions: Sleep aids may worsen the symptoms of some medical conditions, so always check with your healthcare provider before starting a supplement.

Young Children: The safety of natural sleep aids is not well studied in young children, and is not recommended. Our team works hard to be transparent about why we recommend certain supplements; you can read more about our dietary supplement methodology here.

We support supplements that are evidence-based and rooted in science. We value certain product attributes that we find to be associated with the highest quality products.

It's important to note that the FDA does not review products for safety and effectiveness before they go to market. Our team of experts has created a detailed, science-backed methodology to choose the supplements we recommend.

We interviewed the following experts for what to look for in natural sleep aids:. Supplements that are third-party tested are sent to a lab where they are tested to ensure they contain what they say they contain and are not contaminated with specific high-risk, common contaminants.

It is essential to carefully read the ingredient list and nutrition facts panel of a supplement to know which ingredients and how much of each ingredient is included, relative to the recommended daily value of that ingredient. Please bring the supplement label to a healthcare provider to review the different ingredients contained in the supplement and any potential interactions between these ingredients and other supplements and medications you are taking.

Many sleep aids contain more than one active ingredient, some of which the safety is unknown. Keep in mind that more is rarely better, and higher doses could lead to both short term and long term side effects.

Always review dosing with your healthcare provider before starting a supplement. The safety of sleep aids varies and may depend on whether or not you have any underlying health conditions, take medications, or take any other supplements. When used in the short-term, supplements like melatonin, valerian root, and magnesium are likely safe for most healthy people.

Other types of sleep aids like diffused essential oils and herbal teas are the safest options and can be used safely by most people. Most oral sleep aids are not well studied in pregnant or breastfeeding people, and therefore not much is known about safety in that population.

Always check with your healthcare provider to determine if a specific sleep aid is safe for you. There is not one sleep aid that is effective for all people.

The effectiveness largely depends on the root cause of your sleep problems. For example, melatonin may be helpful with jet lag as well as insomnia, but magnesium may be best for older people or those that are deficient.

Dementia can affect a person's ability to get quality sleep. Melatonin may be an effective treatment for sleep, but it can come with unwanted side effects in this population. Medications for dementia may cause unwanted side effects and further cause sleep disturbances. More research is needed in this population to understand the best options.

Magnesium could potentially be helpful, as magnesium absorption declines with age. Dementia is also associated with eating behavior changes which could lead to a reduced intake of this important nutrient. Your overall diet and eating patterns are more likely to affect sleep than any individual food.

Research shows that eating too close to bedtime minutes before going to sleep can negatively affect sleep quality. On the flip side, eating a well balanced diet and eating enough not overly restricting calories may promote better sleep.

In addition, eating enough carbohydrates may support better sleep, especially among athletes. That said, there are some foods that may support better sleep , particularly those that contain melatonin, tryptophan an amino acid that is involved in melatonin production , and magnesium.

Eggs, fish, legumes, and seeds naturally contain some melatonin. Almonds, cashews, spinach, pumpkin seeds, and black beans are all good sources of magnesium. Turkey is known to be a sleep promoting food because of the high levels of the amino acid tryptophan.

Tryptophan is also found in chicken, fish, eggs, pumpkin seeds, milk, and cheese, among other protein-rich foods. Lifestyle changes with sleep hygiene can be important to address for some people with insomnia as well. Worley S.

I included 3-star rating since they were mostly critical of the product..

About this item.
